Cremation Memorial FAQs
Common questions about niches, urn fit, placement, and cost.
How are the niches sealed?
Two methods, depending on the form. Some niches are sealed with a granite panel that's visible from the front, usually a contrasting color, treated as a feature of the design. Others are sealed internally under a cap that isn't visible from outside, so the form looks unbroken. Both are weatherproof and built to last.
How many urns can a memorial hold?
Single units have one niche, companions have two, and multi-niche family monuments have three or more. The niche count doesn't have to match the inscription, though. Single units sometimes carry two names if a couple wants to share one memorial.
Does it need to be a specific urn?
Generally, no. Niches come in standard sizes and most urns fit. We'll guide you on what works best with the form you're choosing. For sealed forms, some families choose to place the ashes in a soft bag instead of a rigid urn.
Who places the ashes in the memorial?
Usually the family, the cemetery, or the funeral home handles placement at the time of interment. Our work covers design, materials, and setting the monument itself. We can help with ash placement on request, but it isn't part of the standard scope.
Can remains be added to an existing monument?
Sometimes. It depends on the monument's construction and the cemetery's rules. Send us photos and we can advise.
Are cremation memorials less expensive than traditional monuments?
Smaller cremation forms generally cost less than a full upright. Larger or more complex forms cost more. Pricing depends on the size, the granite, and the form itself. We can walk through options at different price points.
